Conversions

This is an interesting question: Is it easier to convert to WordPress 1.2 than to convert to Movable Type 3.0? Methodical person that I am, I spent several hours doing both. Technically, if you don’t incorporate the new commenting tags into your weblog, I would have to say that if you want to keep your current look, MT is probably easier. If you are like me and don’t care, then it is probably easier to go to WordPress. If you have to do heavy template modifications, that will probably be the hardest part but not as hard as it used to be. But I can will pretty much guarantee this: Going from WP 1.2 to 1.3 will be infinitely easier faster than going from MT 3.0 to 3.1. The more I work with WP, the more I find I like about it. And just like with MT, I began to get ideas on how to work around existing limits. Seeing as how I haven’t found a “full-fledged” cms that has leaped out to me as the one, I am getting sneaky ideas: Like how to reconstruct a certain site as 9 or 10 individual WP weblogs. If I did it right, it might actually prove easier to manage. I have no doubt that there will be a followup to this message soon.
