Gnomedex Opening Night
Gnomedex kicked off Thursday Night with a sort of social event. I think Chris did all of us first-timers a real service with that. That way, we could get all of those “Hey! Did you see who that was? That was, you know… Him!” moments out of our system before things really got rolling. That way, the next time you see Mike Arrington, Todd Cochrane, Dan Farber, Steve Gillmor, Doug Kaye, Chris Pirillo, Eric Rice, Phil Torrone, or Dave Winer, you can think to yourself, “Oh, well, I have already met him before.” Oh, and I did meet the person who came the furthest to be here, Africa’s Foremost Authority on all thing new media, Colin Daniels.
Oh, and before hand, I went to a Second Life meetup. That was interesting, too, in how little anyone talked about the SL itself. While there were moments, it seemed like they were much more focused on just talking together. Which probably isn’t a bad thing.
